Purpose in Christ

I am striving to find my Purpose in Christ during this season of life as I spend most of my days at home with Jesse and our dog, Oakley. At times I feel as if my role as a stay at home mom is a mundane journey of laundry, dishes, and diaper changes. I must look to Christ every morning as my feet hit the floor to start a new day.  I am fulfilling God's plan in Scripture each and everyday that He gives me life on this earth.

Surprisingly, staying home with a baby has given me more time to do different things that I would not have dreamed of doing if life had continued on in my daily work, home, family, sleep routine. Most of the projects I get done while Jesse is napping. I am taking advantages of this season of many naps!

My main purpose is to learn and study more scripture and impress it on my heart and the hearts of my family. As we adventure through the first few years of Jesse's life, it begins with training him up in the ways he should go. 

The Greatest Commandment
6 “Now this is the commandment—the statutes and the rules—that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it, 2 that you may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son's son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be long. 3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them, that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
I also find purpose in striving to be a Proverbs 31 woman as I care for our family and home. Working with fabric for profit and providing food are some highlights of this chapter that I have try to fulfill in different ways:

Cooking: My love for cooking has only grown since I have much more time to prepare home cooked meals! I'll be sharing a lot of recipes in the future.

Quilting: After some mentoring and experience in quilting, my love for the art grew into a great desire to provide memory quilts to others. I posted an ad on Facebook to make quilts for others in the area, and spent the winter making 10 quilts. All of them were made out of shirts from a loved one, to store memories into a patchwork quilt. I will be sharing more of these stories in the future as well!

This post is centered on my first and most important purpose in Christ: to submit to my husband and train up our child (and hopes of children to come). I'll share more recipes and quilts in the days to come!

Crustless Quiche with Customized Toppings

Half broccoli, half bacon. Broccoli for me, bacon for him. This idea hit me when I was too lazy to make two small quiches. I can just add the topping in after the egg mixture is poured! Here’s the recipe 6-8 eggs (always farm fresh here) 1 cup half and half or whole milk 1 Sautéed onion 1 cup shredded cheese of choice Possum seasoning, salt and pepper if you aren’t blessed enough to have that.  Bacon, broccoli, wilted spinach, ham, your choice topping First you want to sautéed your onion so it can be cooling. You do this by heating a skillet over medium heat with some butter. Slice your onion into long thin strips and cook about 15 minutes stirring occasionally so they don’t burn. Let cool at least 5 minutes while mixing other ingredients. Whisk your eggs and milk together until well beaten, light and fluffy.  Add in your possum/ salt and pepper to  your liking. Easy Guacamole

I hate when a big bowl of Guacamole gets wasted because it is impossible for a small family to eat it in a single sitting. Avocado is one of the few healthy foods my husband will eat, accompanying chips. I had to find an easier way,,. Which sparked the creation of Easy Guacamole- the lazy way. I am not claiming this recipe is one to rival Mexican restaurants, its not even a real recipe. It is my go-to lunch or snack idea! Here's what I do.. this serves one person perfectly! Ingredients Half an avocado Diced tomatoes with green chilies (Rotel) optional shredded cheese, sour cream, seasonings, etc Directions 1. cut your avocado in half and wrap the seed half in plastic wrap and put in frig for later. 2. mash avocado out of the peel into a bowl, mash it around and open your can of Rotel.
